Our gala event, Evening at Roselawn, Thursday, April 6, was another magical night for art enthusiasts in Port Colborne.

With over 30 participating local artists, Friends of Roselawn Centre raised just over $3,100 for Phase Two of our Capital Campaign. These monies will help us close in on our goal of raising $50,000 over two years. Fifty thousand is the amount pledged by our non-profit organization to help the City qualify for the Federal Canada 150 grant, which will assist in repairing and restoring the Roselawn mansion.

Local media personality, Tim Denis from 610 CKTB was the emcee for the evening. He did a tremendous job highlighting all the art pieces up for auction. Pianist Frank Krahn tickled the ivories with his repertoire of melodies.

Culinary master and Roselawn Chef, Lou Caetano, provided the wonderful appetizers which were enthusiastically served by student volunteers from Port Colborne High School.

Participants also had fun having their portrait drawn by caricaturist Caroline Sherwood Holroyd.

The evening certainly provided an avenue to showcase local talent and various genres of art. From watercolours and oil paintings to photography, woodwork and pottery there was a wide variety of artwork available for bids. In total, over $6,800 worth of artwork was generously purchased by those who attended. We are especially pleased to support local Niagara artists, who received their reserve bid price on their artworks.

The Friends of Roselawn Centre would like to thank all who attended the event, our event sponsors and an extra big thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this night so successful. Bravo!
