Hello Friends of Roselawn Centre! Lots of great things are happening at Roselawn. As you know construction is well underway…so exciting to see!
Phase 1 of the restoration includes replacing the asphalt shingle roofing on the tower and mansard roof, replacing the built-in concealed gutters and downspouts, installing new prefinished steel caps on the chimneys along with scraping and painting of all exterior woodwork. Primary windows will be sealed shut and caulked while storm windows will be restored. The doors will be restored as well and the west bay window on the south side is being rebuilt. Severely damaged bricks will also be replaced and the stone walls at the front steps will be restored. Phase 1 is to be completed early Spring. Our beautiful Roselawn mansion is going to look amazing and your generous donations have helped to make this dream a reality.
FoRC is diligently continuing our fundraising efforts with the goal of maintaining the $140,000 Canada 150 Grant so that all funding is available to complete the above repairs. We had a wonderful time and raised $300.00 at our “Paint Night” with local artist Megan Bennett of Peace of Heart. Our “Name This Tune” event by Sean McCart and hosted by Greg & Rosemari Poisson at The Canalside was tons of fun and raised an additional $540.00.
We are all very excited about our upcoming major fundraiser: Evening for Roselawn to be hosted at Jericho House on Wednesday, March 28th. Don’t miss this gala event celebrating the arts in Niagara featuring a Juried Silent Art Auction. Be sure to mark your calendars and get your tickets because once again, we have a beautiful evening in store for you!
To-date, we have raised $45,035 leaving $4,965 left to go before our deadline of March 31st. So close and yet so far! The Evening for Roselawn will help us reach our $50,000 goal but with the deadline being so close, we continue to rely on additional donations and are very grateful for your continued support. You have all been such generous and supportive members of the Friends of Roselawn Centre for which we extend our heartfelt thanks. Please continue to support this worthwhile cause.
Now that we have officially obtained our charitable status you can make your cheque payable to The Friends of Roselawn Centre. Please note on your cheque that the donation is for the Capital Campaign Endowment Fund and permission to publish your name or company name. Then mail to Roselawn Centre for the Arts, 296 Fielden Ave., Port Colborne, ON L3K 4T6. You can also call or visit Terry at Roselawn 905-834-7572.
